What are the challenges of energy conservation?
The largest challenge is economic growth. You can’t have a modern thriving economy without massive amounts of energy being consumed. Try as you might to conserve, a growing economy demands energy to produce goods and services. Conservation isn’t the key. Clean, renewable energy sources are. When the technology is there we’ll have them, until then we have to be as productive as we can with what we’ve got. Oil, coal, natural gas and hydro- electric are still plentiful and reasonable priced. We need more nuclear, wind and solar power to progress. When the technology makes it safe and affordable we will use it.In the mean time we have to use what we have as efficiently as possible.Understand we will never use less energy and continue to grow in population and productivity, we are using it more efficiently every day.
