What are the challenges involved in costuming contemporary plays?
For me personally, the challenge is finding exactly what you want in a store. I usually have a very good idea of what I want for each costume. It is much easier to build a show than it is to find it. I am also more interested in the building process than the shopping process, if you take my meaning . . . What production has offered you the most challenges? Playhouse Creatures is right up there—it took an amazing amount of time to construct Playhouse Creatures, way more time than I had planned on. Time management is not one of my strengths, and when I get my mind set on something, it doesn’t matter to me how long it will take to create whatever it is that I want. I want it, and I will figure out a way to make it happen. There is a down side to that creative drive.
