Many low income pet owners cannot afford basic veterinary care for their pets. I have clients who end up with 10-20 cats simply because they could not afford to get their cats spayed and neutered before they had one litter or more. Also, many low-income clients are unable to get their pets vaccinated. These pets can then get diseases that are easily preventable like parvo or distemper in dogs or panleukopenia in cats.
