What are the caveats concerning old firmware?

0

Firmware prior to 1.5 had a bug that could cause PCI parity errors, particularly on Alpha systems. This bug can interfere with firmware upgrade. To upgrade firmware on a board running firmware prior to 1.5 first disable PCI parity checking (on UNIX workstations this is done by entering the command set pci_parity off in the SRM console) then perform the firmware upgrade. Once the board is running revision 1.5 or later, parity checking may be reenabled.
