What are the causes, symtoms and prevention for breast cancer?
All of that and not a single answer to one of your questions?! No one knows what causes breast cancer, but we do know there are some things that make you more susceptible to getting it. Unfortunately, you can’t do anything about most of them. The biggest risk factor is aging, you have a 1 in 8 chance if you are in your 80s. You are at a higher risk if you are Caucasian, if you are of a higher socioeconomic background, if you have been or are on HRT, if you stared your period before age 12 or reached menopause after age 55. Symptoms usually include finding a lump and skin or nipple changes, but most of the time there are no symptoms. The best prevention is regular mammograms as tumors can usually be found before you can feel them and catching it early is your best chance of beating it.
