What are the causes of spider veins?
Most spider veins are caused by genetic weaknesses in the walls of small blood vessels. Women generally suffer from spider veins more often than do men because of estrogen effects on the blood vessels. They frequently become more prominent during pregnancy or while taking birth control pills.
