What are the causes of Rotator Cuff Tendonitis?
The main cause of Rotator Cuff Tendonitis is from direct trauma, usually while playing sports, such as rugby and football. The gradual onsets of Rotator Cuff Tendonitis can be caused by poor proprioception in the shoulder or thoracic spine, perhaps from a previous shoulder injury. Equally, Rotator Cuff Tendonitis can be caused by a sudden movement like a fall or a tennis serve. Commonly, it is recognised that poor pelvis biomechanics can be a contributing factor to Rotator Cuff Tendonitis and must also be considered in the rehabilitation programme too. Repetitive movements with the arm in an elevated position can also cause Rotator Cuff Tendonitis.
