What are the causes of Patellofemoral Stress Syndrome?
The cause of Patellofemoral Stress Syndrome is when the cartilage in the knee becomes soft and makes walking difficult. This happens when the knee rubs against the lower part of the femur instead of gliding over it. This creates constant rubbing causes the cartilage to wear down and then the pain of Patellofemoral Stress Syndrome is felt. The usual cause of Patellofemoral Stress Syndrome is from trauma to the knee from injury or other conditions. Tight hamstrings or quads can further aggravate Patellofemoral Stress Syndrome and Patellofemoral Stress Syndrome can also be made worse from osteoporosis. Patellofemoral Stress Syndrome is also caused when the feet bend inwards and create an imbalance around the knee.
