What Are the Causes of Passive-Aggressive Behavior?
According to the Mayo Clinic, passive-aggressive behavior is a persistent pattern of communicating your feelings in a roundabout way rather than candidly stating them. The National Institute of Health (NIH) says passive-aggressive personality disorder is a long-term (chronic) condition in which a person appears to fulfill the needs and wishes of others, but in fact passively defies them, typically becoming upset and hostile. The exact cause of passive-aggressive behavior is unclear, but it appears to be connected to genetic and environmental factors.
