What are the Causes of Medicating Children With ADD?

There are different reasons for medicating children with ADD; however, only 50 percent of children are actually helped by the medication, according to Dr. Phil. Causes of Medicating AD/HD expert Jerome Shultz lists the following factors that may lead to medicating a child: the child has not been successful with non-medication approaches; the school has not had any luck in teaching the child to be more observant; and the child’s behavior has been studied over a long period of time. If the child’s behavior has not shown any changes, then medication should be considered.
