What Are the Causes of Hyperlipidemia?
Hyperlipidemia is a medical condition in which lipid levels, or cholesterol levels, in the body are elevated. In particular, there is an increase in low density lipoproteins, total serum cholesterol and a decrease in high density lipoproteins. The danger in elevated lipid levels is that it can lead to onset of other diseases. Increased low density lipoproteins and cholesterol leads to an increased buildup of plaque in the bloodstream. This can result in an increased risk of developing cardiovascular disease. To better understand hyperlipidemia it is important to discuss the possible causes of it.
