What are the causes of Constipation?
Generally it is a combination of wrong diet, lack of exercise, medications, lack of oil or lubrication in the intestinal system, environmental factors and even lack of time. It is also caused by C.R.A.P. diet (coffee, refined sugar and starch, alcohol and processed foods); with inadequate essential fatty acids (EFA) like flax, borage and fish oil is taken and these are needed for lubrication of the intestinal system. Another factor is lack of exercise to stimulate the lymphatic flow which can help normal peristalsis. This is essential to produce 3 bowel movements per day but is sadly lacking in our modern society. Medications such as anti-depressants, analgesics (pain relievers), antacids containing aluminum, diuretics and antibiotics cause constipation as well. Another one is when your normal daily activity is altered, as when traveling on business frequently, the bowel can become constipated. And one of the most unforgivable reasons is lack of time.
Many factors lead to a constipated colon. Generally it is a combination of wrong diet, lack of exercise, medications, lack of oil or lubrication in the intestinal system, environmental factors and even lack of time. All these create a lifestyle, which ultimately results in constipation. The regular modern diet is really a love affair with C.R.A.P. Sorry about the pun, and this stands for Coffee, Refined sugar and starch, Alcohol, and Processed food. This type of diet sets up the stage for constipation and this is very evident among the majority of the population now. Even for those of us that have changed our diets as adults, the retraining of our elimination system takes a long time.
