What are the causes of Compulsive Gambling?
Bon Bon made some good points. It’s more than just the money. Here is a good analogy to prove that point. Michael Jordan is a big time gambler. Here is a man that has hundreds of millions of dollars already. What does he stand to gain by gambling? More money? He already has more than he could ever spend. But he gambles for the competitiveness, the risk vs. reward, the excitement and the rush. now me, I go to A.C. and I see those pitiful people with bloodshot eyes betting their mortgage money and I say boy i don’t think I want to do this. However, others see something entirely different and I guess after you win a few times, you get hooked on a feeling and then you get addicted. Addiction comes in many forms. Gambling is certainly one of them. If you have an obsessive, compulsive, disorder to boot (like many compulsive gamblers do) then it is a recipe for disaster. Hope that helps.
