What Are the Causes of a Short Menstrual Cycle?
A menstrual cycle is a process that most women of childbearing age go through each month. The woman’s ovaries prepare an egg for possible fertilization and pregnancy. The egg is matured, pulled down a fallopian tube and waits to meet sperm. If the egg does not meet sperm and remains unfertilized or if it cannot be fertilized, it is discarded. When this happens the process begins all over again. A woman’s cycles may vary in length from month to month. Cycles of less than 24 days may be a sign of a problem or they may be perfectly normal.
