What are the Bugs like?
Depending upon where you are on the Kenai Peninsula there are bugs from late May on to beginning of September. Around our Lodge there are usually not many and people enjoy sitting outside. On the river or ocean you should not have a problem since there is always a breeze and the bugs dont like moving waters. Some guides will tell you to never use bug spray on a fishing trip. Fish dont bite as well. To carry bug repellent is always a good idea specially if you are planning to do some hiking. You can bring your own or by some in Soldotna just a few minutes from the Lodge. Mosquitoes are worst in May and June. Black flies and white-socks are worst in August and September.
