The Forest Practices Code requires that Riparian Management Areas (RMA) be established for any forestry operation in a community watershed, including harvesting, road construction, maintenance or deactivation, and silvicultural activities. Riparian Management Areas apply to streams, wetlands and lakes. Until the Powell River Community Forest has an approved Forest Stewardship Plan, harvesting activities in the community forest will be regulated under the Forest Practices Code.
