WHAT ARE THE BTA PROCEDURES & TIPS FOR RETIREMENT?
Teachers and Teaching Assistants 1. Contact the New York State Teachers Retirement System and complete the application for retirement. The phone number is 1-800-348-7298. 2. Contact Charles Porcaro @ 997-6591in order to notify the BTA Benefit Trust of your intention to retire. You will need to complete paperwork from NAA to continue the Dental Plan for 18 months under Federal COBRA Laws at your own expense. You may also select to continue the $50,000 Term Life Insurance Plan from First Unum at your own expense. 3. Contact Fran Turro @ 478-2304 to inform the Association of your intention to retire. 4. Contact the BOCES Benefits Office @ 937-3820 to complete paperwork for retirement benefits from BOCES Medical Plan as per the contract, exit interviews, etc. 5. Contact Port Chester Teachers’ Federal Credit Union to notify them of your intention to retire and completion of any necessary paperwork. 6.
