What are the british army fitness requirements?
In wartime you could be required to act as a stretcher bearer – at least that was a requirement when I retired in the early 80’s. I did the full 22 years as a medic and was responsible for the medical screening of all English (male) recruits to the British army. Your local Army careers office could give you an update on present day fitness requirements. I did several major exercises with one or another of the regimental bands acting out their wartime role and found them to be fairly unfit compared to most arms. I’m not that surprised. Within their sphere they worked fairly hard, often working long hours practising for this or that parade or performing for various recreational functions that the rest of the army get to enjoy. I’d need to know more about your present general fitness before I could give a considered opinion but, as aforesaid, your local careers office should and could give you some help. Good luck Lol.
