What are the Bottled Water Consumption Statistics?
• In 2007, Americans consumed 33.4 billion litres of water and Canadians consumed 1 billion litres of water. World wide we are 188.8 billion litres of water. http://www.cbc.ca/news/background/consumers/bottled-water.html • Worldwide, 2.7 million tons of plastic are used in the bottled water industry each year. • In 2007, U.S. consumption of bottled water increase 6.9 percent from 2006, 29 gallons per person. • U.S. residents drink more bottled water annually than any other beverage, other than carbonated soft drinks. • It’s estimated that in 2008, U.S. residents will consume 9.4 million gallons of bottled water. • The U.S. consumed 8.8 million gallons of bottled water in 2007, the most in the world.
