What are the blue lights that are installed at some traffic signals?
The blue lights are used by the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office to identify vehicles that run red lights. They are also known as “tattletales”. The blue tattletale light turns on as soon as the corresponding direction’s traffic signal light turns red. When mounted correctly, the tattletale allows a deputy waiting safely down the road to watch for motorists running red lights.
