What are the big problems that organizations (and individuals) face in decision making?
This was selected as Best Answer There are many dynamics, and much depends on the type of organization. Some organizations make decision from the top down, while other encourage from the bottom up. A personal example for me is the airline industry. At SWA, if you have a problem, they will bring out a manager, and that “manager” will tell you that they help you, as your issue is a SWA procedural issue. They can not override procedure, even if you fly their airline daily. American’s managers can make judgment calls, based on factors like, frequency of travel or circumstances. I prefer to fly American for that reason. With regard to leadership and decision-making, I believe that companies should empower employees to make decisions at their individual levels, with some oversight. If you have hired the right people for the roles, then they will develop expertise in their area, and their inputs will be valuable over time.
