A. For antivirus software I like Network Associates’ (formerly McAfee Associates) ViruScan, followed by Symantec’s Norton AntiVirus. ViruScan has a simpler interface and is faster than Norton, while Norton has more bells and whistles. Among those is Norton’s ability to plug into Netscape Navigator to scan programs for viruses as they are being downloaded. The best uninstall program is Quarterdeck’s CleanSweep Deluxe, followed by CyberMedia’s Uninstaller. CleanSweep is faster and has the superior interface, and gives you more control over what you can remove. Uninstaller places more limits on what it will let you remove, making it more difficult to get yourself into trouble by deleting crucial files.
