What are the best ways to recognize house music and dancing?
Everyone I’ve met that didn’t like or know house and then converted did so because of the feeling in the music. House is a feeling. Dance is a feeling. You don’t just experience this music — you feel it. When you dance to house music, how you dance is very much influenced by the feel of a particular song, and by the way you personally interpret it. So a Latin house song makes me dance differently than a minimal deep house track might, because I associate them with different feelings and places. Ultimately, house is uplifting, and it’s soul. It’s dance music. It’s Uplifting Soul Dance Music. What’s your goal for house music in SLC? I want to expand Uplifting Soul Dance Music into more SLC nightclubs, as well as non-club parties and venues. There is a lot of music out there being passed off as house, when it’s actually other genres of electronic dance music, or more Top 40s-level stuff.
