What are the best types of alternate contacts?
Relatives and close friends generally are the best alternate contacts. Female relatives tend to be better informed than male relatives. Good alternate contacts include persons who do not live with the participant, but who are likely to know where the participant is living at all times. Names, addresses, phone numbers, and email addresses can greatly assist our interviewers. In general, the more alternate contacts, the better. NOTE: Center personnel should not be listed as alternate contacts.
