What are the best travelling spots in Australia?

Australia is huge but in 6 weeks you can do the east coast. I would try to plan a trip between Sydney and Cairns. The best places to stop along that coast are (from south to north) Sydney, Byron Bay, Noosa, Fraser Island (from Hervey Bay), Whitsundays (from Airlie Beach), Magnetic Island (from Townsville), Mission Beach, and Cairns. They are all backpacker spots with parties and there is also some good scenery, particularly up north between Townsville and Cairns, and along the coast north of Cairns. There is heaps to do around Cairns, like Kuranda, Daintree rainforests, Port Douglas, all beautiful places. Cairns and Port Douglas are the best places in Australia for a trip to the Great Barrier Reef, because the reef is closer to the mainland and the trips are much cheaper than down south. It’s a great trip, very popular with backpackers. I drive that coast often and i really enjoy it.
