Sometimes, doing well on a test has as much to do with test taking strategies as it does knowing the topic and concepts. Over the years, I have seen students who seem to know their material yet somehow do poorly on their tests. The reason for this is due to the fact that they have neglected to study their ‘test taking strategies’. Knowing the nature of the test questions can make or break the outcome of a test. There are 5 major test question formats. Students should be aware as to how to answer each of them. Multiple Choice The first thing about multiple choice questions, they’re tricky! Read over the directions and determine if the question is asking you for the right answer or the best answer. This can make a difference when you are deciding upon an answer because when you are looking for the ‘best’ answer, there may be more than one good answer.
