What are the best practices for promoting the open business model?
There is a certain entrepreneurial element in creating new business models and some combination of serendipity and recognition that culminates in realising and grasping a new model. But there are some things that can be done to systematise it. One way is looking at your customer through the eyes of your customer’s customer and looking at your key suppliers through the eyes of their key suppliers. This means looking both downward toward the final consumer and upwards in your supply chain at least a couple of levels. The second source of business model innovation is to think more deeply about how to describe what you are selling. There is a variety of creative ways to reframe your business and though it can be systematised to some degree, there would be some entrepreneurial activity and serendipity involved that won’t fully reduce it to a set of tools and templates.
