We encourage software developers to patch Virtual Appliances as a single unit. The patching/or updating is done by the software developers usually through a patch repository maintained at the software developer’s site. The Appliance usually has mechanisms to connect back to the software developer’s patch repository to determine updates. If the connection back is an issue, then the patches may be released in the form of a CD that can then be used to update the appliance at the customer’s site.
