As they are closer to the bottom, the have a greater chance of appreciation in the long run as well as less risk to drop significantly more. Think about Concord, Walnut Creek, Pleasant Hill, Antioch, Brentwood, Dublin, Livermore…..prices have dropped and continue to slide. One way to research the rental market is to go straight to Craigslist to see what rents are going for. I would also call a local realtor that specializes in the East Bay to pick their brain more candidly on the market from an investment perspective. I personally held off last year with investing and definitely plan to invest later this year. There honestly are some great buys out there if you do your homework!
