What are the best headphones for the money (ear buds AND over the ear)?
This is where we boil down all our voluminous headphone knowledge to its bare essence and recommend just ten (or so) headphones… So, in ascending cost order, here they are: Our favorite inexpensive, general purpose, portable-application ‘sealed/closed’ headphone is the AKG K26P (or it’s sibling AKG K27-i) model. It sounds decent, collapses down to easily tuck away in it’s included pouch, and it features a sealed-earcup [a.k.a “closed”] construction to provide a solid degree of external/ambient noise-blocking. For a little better sound, but without the ambient seal, have a look at the Koss Porta Pro or the equally good sounding, but better-looking, Sennheiser PX100. The Grado SR60 has long been the recommended entry point for folks looking for excellent sound from an affordably-priced headphone.
