What are the best exercises for cheerleading jumps?
The most important thing when trying to improve jumps is PRACTICE. DO your jumps in the grass, or any surface other than a spring floor. This will help build more muscle and add height to your jumps. Work on hitting each count sharp and tight, and watch yourself in the mirror. Stretch when watching TV, and practice whenever you can. For your backhandspring, its important to have a strong core and good shoulder strength. V-Ups are a great ab workout, along with bicycle crunches. If you have a mat, work on your sit swings. Also, do some handstand holds, handstand pops, and handstand snap downs. This will build your shoulder strength, which help both in your backhandspring, and in other skills in tumbling. Good Luck!
