What are the best community service projects for teens?
I believe the best community service project for teens are ones that have a long term regular commitment. even as little as once a week every week. Teaching commitment over a span of time. That things are not done for an organization once one project or activity is done. Organizations have continual needs. Showing up once is a great help, but showing up regularly is a greater help. Being a reading buddy at a youth center or reading program. Volunteering for any youth center for younger children, to even just play a game food pantry soup kitchen Nursing home – reading the paper or a book to the elderly, playing a card game or board game This type of work also gives the teens a better look at life beyond themselves. How they contribute to the well being of others. showing up regularly they will also be “wanted” in a way they weren’t before, a place and people they belong to. It also teaches a responsibility to others and that they CAN be counted on.
