What are the best colleges for Comparative Literature?
Comp Lit is a diverse department, considering that most things which philosophy departments no longer teach get moved into it, namely continental philosophy. If you are interested in literary theory at all, Cornell and Duke are by far the best. In terms of general departments, I would still say Cornell and Duke, followed by UC Irvine and Yale. LAC’s don’t tend to have good Comp Lit, mostly because they can’t get the top professors, which is especially important for humanities departments.
