What are the best books out there on becoming a better conversationalist?
If you want to become a better conversationalist, let the other person do most of the talking. IT WORKS! Ask leading, yet not too personal questions. Why does this work? Because people are far more interested in what they have to say and much less interested in what you have to say. This is human nature 101. And believe me, subconsciously, they will like you for it. After a while and you get to know the person better, a balance in conversation will develop. In general, I think you are looking for a book on human relations, i.e., how to deal with and talk to people. Along these lines, may I suggest: How to Win Friends and Influence People by Dale Carnegie This is one of the very first books on human relations. It is also one of the hokiest and most derided titles of any book ever written. Don’t be fooled by it. If you want to be a better person, improve your human relation skills and make people like you, you can’t beat it. There is a reason this book has sold close to 40 million copies
