What Are the Best Baseball Hitting Drills?
Baseball is such a unique game. It is the only game where people are expected to fail almost 70% of the time. Those can can “only” fail 65% of the time are considered the best to play the game. In order to improve your batting average, and increase you power, there are several basic hitting drills you can use. The most basic is hitting off a tee. By hitting off of a tee you can concentrate and develop important, repeatable skills of getting the sweet spot through the hitting zone time and time again. Another common and effective baseball hitting drill is called the “short toss.” Short toss involves two players, and a fence. The players are seperated by the fence. One player crouches low (for protection) and “tosses” the ball over the fence. The batter then practices driving the ball into the fence (i.e. NOT popping up). This develops a repeatable pattern of swinging through the ball, and not hitting a pop up.
