What are the best areas of Vienna to stay in a hotel in?
We stayed in the Radisson SAS Palais Hotel, which was right in the heart of Vienna, it was opposite a lovely park and right on the ring road. If you take the train from the airport you only have literally a five minute walk to the hotel. We found it was the perfect place to stay, the hotel was lovely, we looked out of the window to see the park and lots of greenery. Everything was in walking distance and the area was good. You can find the hotel on Expedia. I would recommend Vienna wholeheartedly, we went last August bank holiday and had a wonderful time.
The best area to stay in is around the Mariahilfer Strasse. This is the main shopping area and has good communications to nearly all parts of the city. Don’t go outside the ring road (Gürtel) as there is not so much going on. A good hotel to stay in (depending on how much you want to spend) is the Tyrol hotel in Mariahilfer Strasse. Very nice and very central. For a good evening out in summer, go to the Donauinsel station on the underground and then walk around the bars by the river. It is really buzzing. Have a nice stay.
