What are the benefits to using wind power?
• Wind power creates no pollution: no green house gases, no acid rain, no toxic waste, no emissions of mercury or other heavy metals. And unlike fossil fuel and nuclear generation, which use significant quantities of water for power plant cooling, wind power generation consumes no water during operations. • Wind is an inexhaustible, abundant and free source of energy that can be found virtually everywhere. A mere 10% of our global potential wind resources could satisfy the word’s electricity demands many times over. • The use of wind power reduces our dependence on foreign sources of fuel, and represents a domestic energy source with stable prices not subject to fuel price volatility. • Wind power is becoming increasingly cost-competitive. With the introduction of a carbon tax of $46 per ton of CO2 per year, wind becomes cheaper than coal and matches natural gas.
