Key staff members in the Sheriff’s Office Administration utilize Verizon Blackberries to expand their communication capabilities beyond their office walls and beyond their typical office hours. Not only does this allow supervisors to remain available via phone and email for their officers, it also allows investigations to remain mobile and vigilant in their surveillance efforts. In addition, beginning July 1, 2010 all Investigators will cycle their MDT units to the Patrol Division and replace these capabilities with their Blackberries – at a cost-savings of $5,500 per MDT.
