What are the benefits of using RECs?
WGES bundles standard power with RECs to create CleanStepsSM WindPower. We do this because: • RECs represent the property rights to environmental attributes – which means that when you purchase RECs, you directly support renewable power. • RECs reduce the possibility for “double counting” by assigning each REC a unique tracking number. • RECs can be easily traced and associated with customer purchases. • RECs give customers who live far from renewable energy facilities the opportunity to purchase green power, and to be sure they’re making a difference. • RECs are not constrained by transmission issues.Using RECs means electricity is reliably delivered, even when the wind is not blowing.
