What are the benefits of using a Gel Miser over a dichroic?
Dichroics offer similar solutions to those of the Gel Miser however, the Gel Miser may make more sense to use for certain applications or instances. 1. Dichroics cannot match all gel colors exactly. The Gel Miser allows the use of any color or color system. 2. A dichroic is limited to fixtures with 40 degrees or less beam spreads. 3. It will be more difficult to replace (color match) 1 frame of a dichroic in a set if one is broken four years later. 4. Color fringing can occur with dichroics. 5. The Gel Miser will accept split gels. 6. Dichroics have to be cleaned more often. The fan action of the Gel Miser will help keep dust off the filter. 7. A dichroic will reflect more heat and harmful radiation back into the fixture.
