Spread Spectrum Clocking is a way to lower electromagnetic interference or EMI. This is important for storage solutions that are required to pass FCC and other agency certifications. Today, some Serial ATA disk drives implement SSC, some allow you to turn this feature on/off, and some do not implement SSC; it is anticipated that all will implement this feature in the near future. The Tempo-X eSATA fully supports SSC but will work with disk drives that do not yet implement SSC.
