What are the benefits of the ICEC?
There are many – increased visitor numbers, increased spend, additional jobs and the opportunity for the ICEC to act as a positive catalyst for the wider regeneration of Gateshead Quays. There is great demand from Britain and overseas in conferencing in NewcastleGateshead – in fact frequently too much demand to be able to satisfy it at present within the context of the existing infrastructure. An international conference and exhibition centre would be a great economic driver for the region, with the potential to deliver 2,000 jobs, around 270,000 visitors per annum and at least £25m per annum into the economy (through the additional spend of new business visitors to the region).
