What are the benefits of the Bonner Leader Program? Do Bonners get paid?

Bonner Leaders get an educational voucher through the National Corporation of Service (a federal agency) for $1,000.00 after they complete their service hours. This money can be used to pay off student loans or “cost of attendance”. It can also be saved up to seven years for graduate school. Students are not paid cash; the educational award is applied through the Bursar or given by the student to the Student Loan Company. Only Bonner Leaders who get Federal Work Study are paid a bi-weekly salary, plus receive the stipend. All other students are paid the stipend only. This program is an excellent experiential opportunity for students to contribute to the needs of the local community, practice leadership skills, and prepare for their careers.
