What are the benefits of studying elephant communication?
By studying elephant communication we achieve a deeper understanding of elephants in general. Though many people have said it with slight variations, we think that there is a very deep truth in saying that the more we come to understand something, the more we are able to love it, and the more it matters, the more we strive to preserve the things we cherish. In order to succeed in conservation we need to be able to engender caring feelings among people in general. Not everyone is lucky enough to study elephants, but we hope that most people will benefit from what we have learned. Elephants are an amazingly intelligent, caring, humorous, and majestic species that we can only hope will be able to survive the pressures of co-inhabiting this planet with such beings as ourselves. We hope that what we have learned and are learning can help to change attitudes toward the other creatures with whom we share this earth.
