The benefits are twofold: economical and environmental. It’s economical as trash disposal costs are rising. It is anticipated that Bow residents will pay $634,710 in tipping and transportation fees to dispose of trash in 2009-2010 without the SMART program. Increased incinerator tipping fees (from $46/ton to $65/ton) and the rising costs of fuel and transportation from the hauler contribute to the rising costs for tax-payers.
