What are the benefits of EThOS for me as a researcher?
EThOS will provide easy access to UK doctoral theses, as the theses will be indexed by search engines as well as the central hub. The full text of electronic theses is searchable by keyword, in addition to the usual searching within author, title and abstract. Where an electronic copy is available, it can be downloaded immediately. Where it is not yet available (or if an alternative means of delivery is chosen) it will take a few days. This will be a significant reduction on the current delivery time for theses. The British Library will prepare theses for delivery for all participating institutions on a not for profit basis, thereby offering consistency to the researcher and economies of scale, keeping costs and overheads to a minimum and ensuring best value for money. There are also benefits to researchers who are authors of theses.
