What are the benefits of doing community service?
Well, for me it is very rewarding. I’ve met people doing Special Olympics who are inspiring, dedicated and persistent. Doing pro bono deserving design, I’ve learned new skills working with tradespeople like plumbers, electricians, drywallers, finish carpenters and painters. Going on missionary camps, I’ve learned about the roots of poverty, how resilient and resourceful people can be in the face of disasters, natural or otherwise. I think in the end, it helps you to become the best person you can be, opens your mind and eyes and makes you less judgemental while helping others.
