What are the benefits of composting for farms?
Composting is a managed process that utilizes aerobic (air “breathing”) microbes to rapidly decompose raw manure. By ensuring an appropriate mix of manure and bedding (or waste feed), placing the material into windrows, occasionally turning these windrows, and using a breathable compost cover in conditions of excessive rainfall, temperatures between 120 and 150 F. will be generated and stable compost produced in as little as 8 to 12 weeks.
