What are the benefits of choosing either internal or external storage for my HD TiVo?
Benefits of internal storage: Replacing your internal drive with a larger one has several advantages. With an internal upgrade, all parts are inside the unit itself, total power consumption is lower, your original drive can remain on site as a backup, and with fewer moving parts (one drive versus two) there are fewer points of failure. For new purchasers, larger internal storage always makes the most sense. Benefits of external storage: Adding an external drive also has advantages. It’s easier to install. You don’t lose your settings and programs (with internal upgrades, that can be true in some cases also). And you can get a larger total unit – up to 2 Terabytes of storage.
