What are the benefits of certification?
Certification indicates a candidate has demonstrated a comprehensive understanding of the equity compensation body of knowledge. The median salary of Certified Equity Professionals is 24% higher than equity compensation professionals as a whole. A survey of Certified Equity Professional designees found they gained greater confidence and recognition, grew professionally with their company and earned more responsibilities and technical knowledge as a result of certification. Since its founding, the CEP Institute curriculum has served as the industry’s educational standard. Organizations and individuals use Institute exams as a measurement of basic (Level I), intermediate (Level II), and advanced (Level III) knowledge, skills, and abilities related to equity compensation administration.
Since there is no standard certification process, this would vary with the organization you chose. Some programs offer a thorough certification process that can take two or more years and could include training classes, field trips and in-home instruction. In addition to being able to take pride in what you and your dog have accomplished, as a “certified” graduate, you might receive the program’s identification card and dog equipment, be included in the program’s liability insurance coverage and be offered assistance from the program should you be denied public access. Each program’s requirements and benefits are different and it is up to you to be a good consumer and find the program that best meets your needs.
